The Child is the main protagonist of the game Among the Sleep. A small baby who finds themself drawn into the world of their own nightmares and now seeks to find their Mother in it. On this difficult journey, the Child is accompanied by a teddy bear named Teddy, who has the ability to speak, provide light and give hints to the player to help solve puzzles.

The Child is wearing baby blue pajamas embroidered with stars and moons (can be customized by the player). The game shows only the hands and the lower part of the baby's body. Their back is depicted on the cover of the game, which also shows that the baby has short brown hair and pale skin. Part of their face can be seen on the cover of the enhanced edition.
Trivia[]
While the baby's gender is never mentioned in the game, some dialogue in the Italian version mention the baby as a girl, while the Czech version mentions the baby as a boy.
